Thought Bubble Leeds 2016

 On the 1st till the 6th of November every year in Leeds is an event named Thought Bubble, Thought Bubble is a comic book convention and annual art celebration of sequential art in all of it's forms. It was first formed in 2007 as a none profit-making organisation that dedicated itself to promoting comic books, graphic novels and animation as an important national and international art form
I attended this event and being able to view all the artwork that all these independent artists and illustrators have created was inspiring, there was never two similar style of artwork throughout the convention, each artist had their own characters and worlds that they had spent months to years perfecting. I was able to network with a lot of the illustrators and artists who were set up there which is perfect because I have personally aspired to do this sort of stuff as a hobby and getting insight from these artists was an enriching experience.

 To the right is artwork created by an artist i networked with at the convention, Shelly bond. Her work has these rich colours and focus on this Black outline style giving it this traditional comic book feel to it.

Josan Gonzalez The most inspirational artist that I follow the work of on social media is an artist called Josan Gonzalez. More commonly known under the alias of Deathburger, Josan creates vibrant, bold Sci-fi Cyberpunk and post apocalyptic art that features a mixture of rich and pastel colour palettes that makes his work stand out remarkably. Brief Analysis and Proposed Idea The brief for the 'Self Negotiated Project' has been provided. After reading the project synopsis, it appears that it is less restricted in comparison to the previous briefs we have been set on this course. I  heard details about this project prior to the brief going live, which meant I had ample time to come up with a solid idea in preparation for this project. The project will undergo over a period of 5 weeks, considering the idea I have in mind with just over a month to complete it is going to be precarious. However the combination of the preparation prior to the brief and consistent development with the idea, I believe that I have a step up from the deadline. Denis Wood 'Everything Sings'

During one of Rob Lycett's Thursday lectures, one of the Various Books we were suggested to read up on was a book called 'Everything Sings' by Denis Wood. The book features an innovative portrayal to mapping, the maps are rather unusual and possibly considered impractical which is what I like about them, Maps are created with a purpose and a job, to get you from point 'A' to point 'B'. Denis creates these maps but in a very different perspective instead of showing roads and train lines, he illustrates a map of a small vicinity where the only thing illustrated are little circles and squares labeled "disfigured trees". Denis surveyed a place called Boylan heights and throughout this book he documents various neighbourhoods using creative and interesting subjects such as 'Squirrel Highway' where he observed how the local wildlife would traverse, in this case Squirrels would use the telephone wires to travel safely over roads.  One of my pers...
